In the quaint of town of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, residents were preparing for bed while others were already asleep when they were jolted out of their stupor by a terrific boom. It was so loud that it sent panic waves among the scared residents that they were under some sort of attack.
A sonic boom, as it would later be described is a sound associated with shock waves created by an object travelling through the air faster than the speed of sound.
The sound energy is so loud that it sounds like an explosion. For a long time, people associated it with activities carried out by defence personnel who refuted the claims. According to the rules, no sonic boom should take place in township areas.
Any such kind of activity within the township area can lead to structural damage like crumbling of window panes. What’s baffling about this phenomenon is similar noises were heard around the same time in USA and UK, accompanied by a strange green light. Theories abound, but no one has been able to explain the source of these strange noises.
