Adilabad: SP M Sreenivas told police officials to raise awareness among motorists over precautions to be followed while riding a vehicle. He unveiled pamphlets of Drive Safe, an initiative of traffic police for creating awareness over road safety, here on Wednesday.
The 10,000 pamphlets created by traffic sub-Inspector B Venkatesh, contains information relating to punishment for violating traffic rules. They will be distributed to motorists of the town as part of 28th National Road Safety Week being observed from January 17 to 23. A massive bike rally was held by cops on the maiden day of this programme.
The SP asserted that police were taking steps to reduce road accidents by conducting a slew of programmes. He instructed traffic cops to organise meetings over Drive Safe programme across the district. He attributed consumption of liquor and rash driving to growing road mishaps. He regretted that breadwinners of families were being killed in the accidents.
