Mancherial: Peddapalli MP Balka Suman is spearheading the campaign for polls of SCCL. He has extensively toured coal belt towns and colonies by camping in Mancherial. In an interview with Santosh Padala of ‘Telangana Today’, the student leader turned politician spoke about strengths of the trade union and scope of victory.
What are the promises made by TBGKS to miners?
Hereditary job scheme, financial assistance to coal miners in building houses, waiving of Income Tax on salaries are important assurances given by the union. Similarly, Air Condition machines are going to be given to them as they work under harsh conditions. They will be fulfilled once TBGKS is voted to power.
Rival trade unions are flaying TBGKS for failing to provide employment to dependents of workers as promised earlier?
There is no doubt about offering jobs to successors of miners. Authorities of the coal giant are working out modalities. Only TBGKS can realise the much awaited dream with the help of TRS-government and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar’s intervention.
Can you please elaborate on it?
The scheme will be implemented by renaming it. Jobs would be given to dependents of employees who are medically unfit. Some more diseases are going to be included to the list of ailments which are considered before giving medically unfit certificate. Else, monetary benefits would be offered if a miner chooses to quit.
TTDP leader Revanth Reddy has accused the TBGKS saying it has been distributing cash to attract voters…
In fact, Reddy is indulging in such acts by bringing money from his son’s in-laws who belongs to Andhra Pradesh. He is making the allegations because they are not confident of winning.
What was your strategy during campaigning?
I personally interacted with every voter. I assured them that union would address all their problems if voted to power. Workers voluntarily turned up in public meetings of TBGKS, indicating their choice.
What are chances of success for TRS affiliate?
The union would undoubtedly continue its winning streak by registering a thumping victory in the polls by securing most of the areas out of the total 11.
