Sangareddy: Revenue and Panchyatraj Department officials on Tuesday demolished nine houses, removed several sheds and roadside petty shops that had encroached NH-65 at Isnapur Chowrasta in Patancheru mandal here.

The move comes in the wake of complaints lodged by the locals, police and highway authorities with district administration. The junction has been witnessing heavy traffic jams in the past few years, they said.

Following the directions of Collector Kannan Manicakaraj, a team of officials led by RDO – Sangareddy Srinivas Reddy demolished all the structures to ease traffic at the busy circle.

The police led by DSP – RC Puram Sitaram ensured that the demolishment was peaceful.

Earlier, MLA G Mahipal Reddy held discussions with the affected and assured them of providing double bedroom houses in the first phase in the Patancheru constituency.
