Man wanted in conspiracy to kill BJP leaders held

Hyderabad: Syed Zakir Raheem, brother-in-law of the wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Farhathullah Ghori, was detained by the City Police here on Friday, after he was deported to New Delhi from Saudi Arabia. Raheem, a resident of Saidabad here, was brought to the city on Friday around 10 am.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia arrested the 35-year-old Raheem, who was working as an insurance agent there in May 2016 and deported him to New Delhi on Thursday. He is believed to have been working for Pakistan’s ISI while doubling up as an insurance agent.

He was wanted by Hyderabad police in connection with a conspiracy to murder BJP leader N. Indrasena Reddy in 2004.
