Comedian Srinivasa Reddy turns a protagonist with Jayammu Nischayammu Raa. Also starring Poorna, the film traces the journey of a young man who overcomes his lack of confidence in self and emerges victoriously.

Director Shiva Raj Kanumuri tries to strike a balance between being a realistic film without missing the native sensibilities and being a commercial pot-boiler which doesn’t dilly-dally to dig into double meaning dialogues and tickle your funny bone.

Unlike a slew of films which lose the steam in the second hour, Jayammu Nischayammu Raa takes ample time to get its rhythm right in the first half. Shiva Raj takes plenty of time to introduce and establish the principal characters and just when you begin to feel restless, the narration gets better, albeit gradually. The audience will be taken aback by this turnaround and are forced to re-evaluate their opinion.

A naïve chap Sarva Mangalam (Srinivasa Reddy) gets posted to a government office in Kakinada. He is worried about the well-being of his mother and makes futile attempts to get back to his native village in Karimnagar. Things take an interesting turn and he falls for his colleague Rani (Poorna). The rest is how Sarva Mangalam figures out what he really wants in life and learns to stand up for himself.

The film marks the beginning of a new chapter in Srinivasa Reddy’s career. He shines in the role of an innocent villager. His body language and accent are perfect and everything about his performance is spot on. Poorna is impressive and her scenes with the protagonist are well-conceived. Krishna Bhagawan, Praveen and Posani Krishna Murali make their presence felt in hilarious roles.

The climax is handled well and makes people walk out of theatres with a smile. Jayammu Nischayammu Raa is the story of humble people and the challenges they encounter in their life. The focus is on everyday incidents and how these characters complement each other. Though Jayammu Nischayammu Raa is not an ambitious film, it has its heart in the right place.
