Amaravati: To express solidarity with farmers, who are not willing to give their lands for the capital city of Amaravati, the Leader of Opposition and YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy will visit the villages on January 19.

YSRC legislator from Mangalagiri, Alla Ramakirshna Reddy said that Jagan will visit the villages to bring pressure on the government. He alleged that the government has been taking lands by force from the farmers.

According to him, the farmers have been strongly opposing the move. Meanwhile, Ministers P Narayana and Prathipati Pulla Rao stated that farmers near Amaravati had given their lands under the Land Pooling Scheme with their consent.

Narayana said that about 98 per cent of the land was taken from the farmers under the LPS and the remaining would be taken soon. He added that around 1,400 acres is pending for acquisition.

Pulla Rao blamed that Jagan has been creating hurdles in the development of the State, and as part of it, the opposition leader has been coming to the villages and provoking innocent farmers against the government. He further added that Jagan fears State being development under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

It is worth mentioning here that though majority of the farmers gave their lands under the LPS, some of them had opposed. For them, the government initiated Land Acquisition Act, and sent the notices to these farmers.

Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said that Jagan will visit those villages which are opposing land acquisition and he will stand by the farmers. He said the government had failed to fulfil the promises it gave at the time of the LPS.
