Hyderabad: Seven persons were convicted in two different cases here on Wednesday. While one case was pertaining to an inter-State cellphone thief gang, the other was related to an inter-State attention diversion gang. In the first case, Bhushan Kumar of Bihar, Santosh Kumar of Jharkhand and Ramu Yadav of Uttar Pradesh were sentenced to 16 months of imprisonment by a local court here in Nampally. The trio, who were detained under the PD Act, were involved in cell phone thefts and tampering with IMEI numbers.
In the second case, the Court sentenced 14 months imprisonment to four persons identified as Akram Raju Shaik, Aslam Ali Shaik, Amin Munshi Shaik and Nasir Ahmed Khan, all residents of Thane, Maharashtra. The inter-State gang was involved in various attention diversion cases, police said.
