Kuchibhotla’s killer appears in court
Hyderabad: The preliminary hearing in the Olathe shooting in Kansas, which left Srinivas Kuchibhotla dead and two others, Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot injured, will begin on September 18.
The date for the hearing was set by the Johnson County District Court on Monday, when the suspect in the shooting case, Adam Purinton, 51, appeared before the court.

Purinton is also charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder for shooting and wounding Alok Madasani, 32, a colleague of Kuchibhotla at Garmin and hailing from Kothapet in Hyderabad, and 24-year-old Ian Grillot of Olathe.
61% people satisfied with Modi’s 3 years of service
New Delhi: Sixty-one per cent of some 200,000 citizens surveyed across the country say they are satisfied with the performance of the Narendra Modi government as it completes three years in office. This is, however, down from the 68 per cent approval after its first year and 64 percent approval after its second year.
Forty-four per cent of the respondents in the two-week survey by Local Circles citizen’s engagement platform said the government had met their expectations while 17 per cent said their expectations had been exceeded.
Around 59 per cent of the citizens polled believed that the government will fulfill the promises made in its pre-election manifesto.
Conversely, dissatisfaction has also risen — last year only 36 per cent citizens said the government’s performance was below expectation. This has gone up to 39 per cent in the third year.

Chhattisgarh: 16 Maoists killed in gunfight
New Delhi: At least 16 suspected Maoists have been killed in a firefight with security forces in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh State, police said Tuesday, the same region where rebels massacred two dozens soldiers last month.
More than 300 police and paramilitary troops had been tracking Naxals in a joint operation since the weekend, said D M Awasthi, chief of the Chhattisgarh anti-Naxal force.
“We can confirm at least 16 Naxals have been killed in the ongoing operation,” he said without elaborating on the circumstances in which they died.
There was however no clarity on when the gun battle took place.
Another police officer said the rebels were killed in two separate gun battles, and that a policeman was also killed.
“One of our jawan (troops) was killed and another two injured in the operation,” local police officer Mohit Garg said.
