Hyderabad: The Minister of Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattareya has applauded the efforts of the Telangana government in the field of digitisation. He informed that about 5.5 lakh people have got digital training at panchayat level in the State and about 1 lakh entrepreneurs are using electronic payments.
Speaking at the Digi Dhan Mela organised by Niti Aayog, the Minister said, “The demonetisation phase is in the right direction so as to lighten up people’s lives.
This revolutionary move has benefited all sections of the society. We have conducted 350 workshops on this issue and under the labour department we have opened 50 lakh new accounts post demonetisation.”
The Labour Minister also appreciated the State’s efforts in enhancing digital transactions. “I appreciate the efforts of Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao for making his constituency, Siddipet, a cashless municipality,” he informed.
The two-day mela being organised by the Central government in partnership with Telangana State Information Technology Department had about 200 stalls set up by public sector banks, government organisations and private e-wallet companies.
Apart from students and entrepreneurs, farmers and rural businessmen also came to the event so as to gain knowledge on different modes of digital payments.
It provides a single platform to seek information about all banking services, which includes opening a fresh bank account to online banking, mobile banking, digital payments, payments through apps and others.
