Hyderabad: L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has organised ‘Glaucoma Awareness Walk’ from LVPEI to Jubilee Hills Check Post and back on Sunday to build awareness on ‘silent’ eye condition which is seen as the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the country.
The walk was organised as part of the World Glaucoma Week being held from March 11 to 17 which was flagged off by actor Sumanth, along with G Chandra Sekhar, vice-chairman of LVPEI.
Chandra Sekhar said that pressure in the eye nerve is the cause of this disease and can afflict a person of any age including just born. “The only way out is complete comprehensive eye check-up to identify this disease. Awareness and early diagnosis are keys to prevent irreversible blindness”, he said.
