Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh has ignored the fresh directive issued by Krishna River  Management Board (KRMB) to stop its drawals from the Pothireddipadu Head Regulator. It continued to draw over 13000 cusecs from Srisailam to meet its needs under the Handri Neeva system even till Wednesday night.

The water share availed by Andhra Pradesh from this source would cross 14 tmc by 6 am on Thursday as against the allotted quota of five tmc given by the board on September 22. The Engineer in chief  of Telangana State, C Muralidhar  wrote to the KRMB opposing the over drawals by AP on Wednesday.

Responding promptly to the letter, Board  issued an order asking AP to  stop drawals forth with. Similar order issued by the board on September 27 last  failed to prevent AP from over drawals.

Irrigation department sources said that AP was asked to continue it’s drawls in view of the inspection of telemetry calibrations by a joint team deputed to Pothireddypadu  by the KRMB today. The drawls will continue till tomorrow evening, they informed.
