Excitement touched the sky and flew higher than the kites on Saturday in Hyderabad, as the two-time Grammy-award winning French DJ David Guetta sent the crowd here in a frenzy of sorts for the Sunburn Festival. After the show got cancelled in Bangalore owing to security reasons and the one scheduled in Mumbai became shaky, Hyderabadis were almost biting their nails out of nervousness when the authorities not only signalled a green but showed much enthusiasm in organising the event as well.

Cyberabad police tweeted from their official account a day before the concert, “Welcome to #Hyderabad @davidguetta. Look forward to hosting you tomorrow. @cyberabadpolice committed to ensure a glitch free event as always”

With the IT Minister KT Rama Rao taking special interest and appealing to the Police to deploy SHE teams in order to ensure the safety of women, all was bound to go well and it did too.
Chandrayi Saha, a software analyst and resident of Gachibowli says security was efficient at Hitex Exhibition Centre. “We were sceptical about the show and booked our tickets only by 4:30 in the evening. The security check was fine and police kept moving around the crowd.

GuettaHyderabad is anyway much safer than the other cities is what I feel. Personally I was a little disappointed with the songs he played but otherwise it was a good experience. The event was wrapped exactly at 10 pm,” she says.

Lakshmi Reddy, a resident of Kundanbagh echoes Chandrayi’s opinion. “Security was spot on except the fact that they held back the cosmetics we were carrying and never returned it,” she laughs. “I think for shows as big as Sunburn, Gachibowli stadium is more convenient as it is more spacious than Hitex,” she adds.

R Kalinga Rao, Inspector, Madhapur Police Station says that no complaints were reported throughout the show. “Security personnel including SHE teams were deployed in all the entrances as well as the premises. Hassle-free traffic and parking were also ensured apart from keeping other security issues on check. The bar was closed down at 9:30 and we could successfully wind up the show by 10 pm,” he says.

Sunburn had earlier got artistes like Armin Van Buuren and Afrojack who were also received with much enthusiasm and they had made sure they paid back Hyderabad with the best of their music.
